Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have joined a growing list of celebrities opting for a major lifestyle shift by relocating overseas. The couple has reportedly settled in the idyllic Cotswolds region of southern England, embracing a more peaceful and private way of life.
Famed for its rolling countryside, charming villages, and historic architecture, the Cotswolds provides a stark contrast to the glitz and chaos of Hollywood. Ellen and Portia have reportedly purchased an $18 million estate in the area, signaling their commitment to starting a new chapter abroad.
Their move follows a series of significant real estate decisions in the U.S. Earlier this year, they sold their sprawling California estate—boasting six bathrooms and luxurious amenities—for $29.9 million. Shortly after, they also put their cozy two-bedroom Montecito bungalow on the market. Located near the scenic Butterfly Beach, the property attracted multiple offers within two days and ultimately sold for $5.2 million, as reported by People magazine.
However, their transition to countryside living hasn’t been without hurdles. A source told the Daily Mail that their initial move was met with unexpected issues. “There was flooding at first, which caused some disruption,” the source shared. “Then, locals raised concerns about renovation work being done on the home.”
Despite the challenges, it appears Ellen and Portia are determined to embrace their new life in England, stepping away from the spotlight and settling into a quieter, more tranquil existence.
